H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development has won the “International Prize for Organizational Learning” in the ‘Personality of the year’ category in recognition of his achievements and contributions in the field of education and in appreciation for his support and encouragement to the concepts and practices of lifelong learning.
H.E. Sheikh Nahyan received the award shield from H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Director General of the Emirates Identity Authority, Prof. Agni Vlavianos Arvanitis, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the International Prize for Organizational Learning and Expert in Sustainable Development from Greece, Prof. Bob Garratt, Advisor of Corporate Governance & Applied Learning to South African Government, and Dr. Alaa Jarad, Chairman of Organizational Learning Conference MENA.
This came during the opening session of the “Organizational Learning Conference” organized by Emirates ID in collaboration with the Investors in People International. More than 400 experts and specialists from inside and outside the country as well as representatives of local government entities participated in the two-day conference, held at ‘Fairmont Hotel – Palm Island in Dubai.
Emirates ID today officially announced the “Personality of the Year for Organizational Learning” award as part of the International Prize for Organizational Learning. The award aims to boost the culture of organizational learning and encourage its adoption at local and international levels.
Upon receiving the award shield, H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan expressed his gratitude to the professionals who formed the International Prize for Organizational Learning, stressing that he is an enthusiastic supporter of lifelong learning for both individuals and organizations.
H.E. Sheikh Nahyan said, “I am deeply honored to receive the International Prize for Organizational Learning. I strongly endorse your premise that ignorance has no place in the modern organization and that learning should never end”.
He added, “I shall redouble my efforts to bring the very best organizational learning to the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Community Development. Emulating the wise ancients, we shall move into the future ever learning many things”.
The Right Award for the Right Person
For his part, Dr. Al Khouri said, “Honoring H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan is the right awarding of the right person. His Excellency is a renowned personality whose achievements and contributions in various fields of education and learning are countless. Over more than three decades, he has given a lot at national and international levels”.
Dr. Al Khouri added that H.E. Sheikh Nahyan was awarded the “Personality of the Year for Organizational Learning” based on recommendations and standards of the Board of Trustees of the International Prize for Organizational Learning. The board comprises a group of international prominent experts in the field of organizational learning.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jarad, Chairman of the conference, said that the international prize for organizational learning will be a driving engine for activities of organizational learning in UAE and the region. It will remarkably contribute in raising awareness of the concept of applied and organizational learning, appreciation and honoring entities and individuals adopting these concepts to solve issues, improve performance and finally achieve sustainable excellence. He considered that the real challenge doesn’t lie in achieving excellence, but in sustaining it and making it an approach to life.
